These 2 days of seminars are intended to cover topics and provide content that are in a residency program, preparing for examination or are interested in entering a residency program.  The course is also open to those interested in learning more about the topics or for discussion with the speakers considering entering a residency program, preparing for examination 2 days of advanced seminars.  This workshop will immediately follow the Annual congress in Hamburg.

The timetable of Hamburg next Congress is slightly changed due to technical and organising reasons.

  • AGM will take place at 5 pm on Sunday 26th September instead morning, probable venue the University, but to be confirmed. ;
  • Study Days will take place on 27th and 28th September instead of 20th an 21th, room number to be confimed inside the University;
  • The congress-website is ready and can be looked at: www.behaviourmeeting-hamburg.de. You find the actual call for papers there and abstracts can be submitted from now on.


The College shall be incorporated under the laws of a nominated country in Europe as a non-profit organisation, which does not pursue commercial interests.

The primary objectives of the College shall be the advancement of the art and science of veterinary behavioural medicine and the increase of the competency of those who practice in this field. These objectives will be achieved by (but will not be limited to):
  1. Establishing guidelines for postgraduate education and experience prerequisite to become a specialist in the speciality field of veterinary behavioural medicine

  2. Examining and certifying veterinarians as specialists in veterinary
    behavioural medicine.

  3. Encouraging research and other contributions to the knowledge related to behavioural medicine, including the aetiology, pathogenesis, semiotics, diagnosis, therapy, prevention, and control of diseases directly or indirectly affecting the behaviour and welfare of animals and the relationship between owners and animals, promoting communication and dissemination of this knowledge, and contributing to the veterinary literature.

  4. Defining and describing behavioural medicine speciality discipline.

  5. Developing continuing education programmes for veterinarians interested in behavioural medicine.

  6. Supervising the professional activities of its members.

  7. Promoting co-operation with national and international veterinary behavioural sciences associations and applied ethology associations.

  8. Providing leadership and expertise to the veterinary profession in behavioural medicine and other appropriate areas of this field.
